It all started with rosé.
In 2016, we debuted the inaugural vintage of Malene Rosé, a Provence-style rosé made from carefully selected fruit from specific sites in the California Central Coast regions of Santa Barbara and Paso Robles.
With the success of the Malene Rosé, in the spring of 2018 we introduced two new distinctive rosés, a Bandol-style Rosé of Mourvedre and an Old Vine Rosé of Grenache, made from 44-year old vines.
The Malene winemaking team is passionate about rosé and so are our followers. In 2022, we made the decision to focus on creating an exclusively rosé dedicated portfolio, with the addition of two new exceptionally inspiring rosés.
“Rosé has grown up and it’s a joy to work on a brand like Malene Wines that is solely devoted to crafting rosé,” says Brianne Engles. “I’ve embraced the challenge to present five distinctive styles of rosé, and I was inspired to elevate the wine from something juicy and delicious that one sips on a summer afternoon, to something that one thinks about as a serious wine.”
All of our wines are available to taste and purchase at the Malene Airstream, located in San Luis Obispo.

At Malene, we are dedicated to making rosé inspired by Provence using traditional Provencal varieties sourced from some of the top vineyards throughout California’s Central Coast.
Using many of the same winemaking techniques that have guided Provençal winemakers for centuries, Malene Rosé employs whole cluster pressing, long, cool ferments and sur lies aging in both French oak casks and stainless steel.
Our team is dedicated to crafting the very best experiences for our consumers. Whether that’s through a great bottle of wine or an afternoon at our tasting room, meet the team who makes it all happen.
